ICD Congress

20 – 24 June, Geneva

The International College of Dentists celebrated their annual meeting in Geneva, from 20 – 24 June, and Kuoni Congress was appointed to provide a comprehensive range of PCO services.

During ICD the Kuoni Congress Geneva team once more effectively demonstrated its ever growing competence in offering sustainable solutions, ensuring that the event addressed its environmental impacts and left a positive social footprint.

ICD represented the first occasion in which Kuoni Congress was able to secure a collaboration between a Congress organiser and charity. Thanks to the intervention of Kuoni Congress, the International College of Dentists agreed to offer free publicity to The Smiles Foundation, a charity focused on helping communities in Romania, and who offer voluntary placements to dentists wishing to collaborate in the local community. ICD published the information on their website, in the Congress programme and showed informative slides during the Congress coffee breaks.

As usual during the social programme the Kuoni Congress team collaborated closely with venue catering suppliers to reduce plastic and single use items, exchanging materials for biodegradable alternatives wherever possible. Lanyards were also collected for upcycling opportunities.

As is now standard practice for Kuoni Congress, accessibility was respected in food labeling to ensure that dishes were available for everyone.

ICD was also considerate of its CO2 emissions, offering taxi bike transfers to interested delegates. This alternative way to travel was great fun and saved almost 370k of CO2 that would otherwise be produced by car and bus transfers!

Furthermore another collaboration with Eaternity allowed guests at the Gala dinner to see the environmental impact of their menu in terms of CO2 and water footprints.

Kuoni Congress Sustainability Team would like to express their thanks to all clients, suppliers and colleagues involved in the provision of Kuoni Congress services at ICD 2018.

Kuoni Congress began its sustainability journey back in early 2016, following the ISO20121 certification Sustainability Event Management system, originally established in the Barcelona, Copenhagen and Geneva offices.

The division will address many topics in its commitment to reduce its impact and promote responsible business practice, parts of which coincide with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of :

  1. Quality Education
  2. Clean Water & Sanitation
  3. Affordable and Clean Energy
  4. Industry Innovation and Infrastructure
  5. Decent Work and Economic Growth
  6. Responsible Consumption and Production
  7. Climate Action
